I first became familiar with the German Sheep dog when I was 14; I spent my holidays at Dongo, a beautiful lake-side resort near Como where I used to stay until school began again, In our company of friends there was also “Argo” a German Sheep dog of whom I was very fond.
My father, a great admirer of this breed , gave me my first puppy (Argo’s son) who stayed with me for many years.
While I was doing my military service my passion for this breed grew more and more and with my savings I bought a puppy called “Curt”. That’s how Curt and I started to take part in dog shows specialized in German Sheep dogs though without much success.
As hopes faded, I decided to acquire new dogs, amongst which was was a bitch called “Haidy del Frutteto”, my first dam.
She bore “Cristell di Villa Paca” who gave me my first successes in showing.
The results obtained in National and International shows were more and more encouraging. Some years later, I met my friend Armando. Together we started a cooperation as partners which continues today in breeding. The profitable work over the years has allowed us to select individuals of high level that have given us great satisfaction..
Some of these can be seen under the heading “gallery” in this site;amongst these I point out the dam “Xena v.d. Wienerau”; “Vonny di Casa Pastori”, the winner of the “Walter Gorrieri Trophy” for the best dog born and breed in Italy; “Ax and Aiax di Casa Pastori”, “Holz di Casa Pastori”. In these last twenty years, with the support of my wife Marisa, who has shared with me, from the beginning, moments of joy and of course discouragement, I have dedicated great passion and enthusiasm to this marvellous breed.
In 1977 I became a member of S.A.S. (Italian Society Specialized in the Breed) and a member S.V. in 1983.
On February 24th, 1982 the International Dog Lovers Federation in Bruxelles approved the affix “di Casa Pastori” for our kennels. I have covered various positions in S.A.S. such as the person responsible for breeding of the West Lombardy Region and in 2001 I became a S.A.S. student judge.
I wanted to tell you briefly about The Breeding group the roots of the sentiments which, even today, are still alive and full of incentive so to involve all those who want to dedicate themselves to this wonderful breed: “the German Sheep Dog”.
